Daggerless Indie Dev Dispatch — Week of October 5, 2026
WARDOGS is still on Steam’s concurrent chart three and a half weeks into Early Access. The Witcher 3 Remastered set a new Steam peak of 137,724 on Sunday. AION 2 opened on PC today and went straight into the top of the live charts.

WARDOGS
Bulkhead’s three-million-copy post from September 26 still stands. Alinea Analytics later put September Steam sales near 3.2 million and about $86.9 million, ahead of Onimusha, Blood of Dawnwalker, FC 27, and Control Resonant. Those are estimates, not a Bulkhead update.
The launch peak was about 426,000. Daily peaks have come down. October 4 topped out near 263,000. The game is still in Steam’s top five. Season 02 is dated October 15. Price is still $40. Console versions are not planned until 2028. Steam reviews are Mostly Positive, about 75 percent across more than 100,000 scores.
Dressmaker
Cozy Lives and Free Lives are still on the weekly sales chart. Dressmaker was number 12 on Steam’s paid-and-free list for September 22–29, up 77 places. This week the studio talked about where it came from. Jonathan Hau-Yoon and Sabrina Becker built it after Becker’s hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome kept her from costume work. She designs the dress pieces and playtests. The Steam page is still Overwhelmingly Positive.
Follow-through
The Witcher 3 Remastered went out September 29 as a free upgrade for existing owners. SteamDB logged 137,724 concurrent on October 4, above the 2015 launch peak of about 92,000 and the old record of about 103,000. Alinea estimated 2.4 million daily active users across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox the day after release, and about 130,000 copies sold that day at $24.99. Switch was not in that count. Songs of the Past is still next year.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve launched October 2. Steam peaked at 52,694 on October 3. Ace Combat 7’s all-time Steam peak is 13,758. Bandai Namco has not posted sales. Metacritic is in the high 80s.
AION 2, NC’s free-to-play MMO, opened on Steam today. Live charts had it near 397,000 concurrent this afternoon, behind CS2 and Dota 2.
Out this week
Coffee Stain, Raw Fury, and Ghost Ship ran the Big Break Showcase on September 29.
- Lightyear Frontier 1.0 is November 4.
- Satisfactory got an expansion, Core Values.
- Goat Simulator 3 got Ticket to Dizzyworld.
- Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor hits PS5, Switch, and Switch 2 on October 7.

- NEIGHBORS: Suburban Warfare left Early Access.
Minecraft Dungeons II, TOEM 2, and Transport Fever 3 landed September 29. Transport Fever 3 made the weekly top 15.
Gears of War: E-Day is October 6 on PC and Xbox, Metacritic 87. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is the same day, Metacritic 88. Hellraiser: Revival, Neon Abyss 2, and Silver Pines are October 8.
Industry Notes
- Ninja Theory staff started posting redundancy notices. Xbox said two sale agreements fell through and opened a consultation on closing the studio.
- Nerial, the Reigns and Card Shark studio, is entering hibernation after 13 years and 11 games. Founders François and Tamara Alliot said the call was made with Devolver.
- Jagex took heat over generative AI in a recent trailer.
- Supermassive took a round of layoffs.
- Steam Autumn Sale is on. Fab’s current free window ends tomorrow.

Daggerless Verdict
WARDOGS is still busy three weeks in, at $40, with Season 02 ten days out. The Witcher 3 remaster pulled a bigger Steam crowd than the 2015 launch because the upgrade was free and the page was already trusted. Dressmaker is still selling a specific loop from a two-person shop. Ninja Theory and Nerial are the other side of the same week. If you are small, ship the thing people can finish, and do not wait on a mid-size studio deal to clear.
